How to collect your Biometric Residence Permit

If you're entering the UK on a visa, and you have been issued with a BRP card and not digital immigration status, your immigration status and your conditions of stay will be recorded on a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) card. Personal information that can be used to identify you (such as your unique physical characteristics, fingerprints, photograph etc.) are also stored on the card.

If you have been granted digital immigration status al the conditions of your visa will be outlined in the Decision Email you received when your visa was granted.

You can also view and prove your immigration status online, via the ‘view and prove your immigration status' service. This online service provides a secure record and proof of your immigration status which is held digitally by the Home Office and which is available to you at all times. To use this service, you will need to use your UK Visas and Immigration account log in.

You must have your BRP card to enrol at Kingston University.

Your BRP card will be held for 60 days. As enrolment will be online, you will need to upload a copy of the BRP to OSIS when you have collected the card.

Collect your BRP from a post office

Post code: KT1 1TP

When you complete your visa application, you will be asked to enter the postcode of the UK post office where you would like to pick up your BRP card. Please enter the post code KT1 1TP – this is the Kingston upon Thames Post Office, Unit L7 Bentalls Shopping Centre, Dolphin Street, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, KT1 1TP.

Please note

  • Do not enter the University postcode as this will delay the delivery of your BRP.
  • Kingston University is not an Alternative Collection Location for BRPs.
  • If you wish to collect your BRP at another post office, you must enter the postcode of your chosen post office.
  • Your visa 'decision letter' will state which post office your BRP has been sent to. You will receive the decision letter before you leave for the UK.

90 day entry visa vignette stamp

If you have been unable to collect your Biometric Residency Permit (BRP) due to Covid-19 restrictions, and your 90-day passport vignette to travel to the UK has expired, or is about to expire, you can request a replacement vignette with revised validity dates provided you are still within the period of leave that was issued for your course.

Request a replacement vignette

Replacing a 90 day passport vignette will cost the equivalent of £154.

To make a request, you must contact the Coronavirus Immigration Help Centre. The request must include:

  • your name
  • nationality
  • date of birth
  • GWF reference number
  • 'REPLACEMENT 30 DAY VISA' in the email subject line.

If you have already contacted the Coronavirus Immigration Help Centre about this, you must let them know this in the email.

You will be contacted by the Visa Application Centre (VAC) to arrange for a replacement visa to be endorsed in your passport.

You will not be penalised for being unable to collect your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) while coronavirus measures are in place.
