Dr Michelle Richards

About

I completed my PhD at Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2014 where my research focused on the biomechanics of technique selection in Women's Artistic Gymnastics. I am extremely passionate about sport exercise biomechanics and the role in improving sports performance and reducing injury. At the 2015 International Society of Biomechanics in Sport conference I was awarded runner up for the New Investigator award for my PhD research. This is a significant international award that I was honoured to receive and to be among some of the very best emerging researchers in this field.

Within my role as Sports Biomechanics Lecturer at Kingston University, my teaching philosophy is that of a student-focused approach which aims to advance the vocational development of the student as well as their progression of knowledge and understanding of theory. My passion for health and exercise permeates throughout my academic and personal lifestyle.
