Dr Gillian Pedley

About

As Associate Professor and Director for Workforce Development,  I provide strategic leadership of the School's workforce development provision and to the academic staff who deliver these programmes. My remit includes oversight of programme delivery, governance and quality assurance of employer-driven clinically focused academic awards, apprenticeships and bespoke education. My role involves partnership working with healthcare employers in order to provide education which meets local service needs.

I have extensive experience of higher education, having designed and managed a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including PSRB approved courses. I have a particular interest in curriculum design and accreditation aligned to continuing professional development needs of healthcare staff and healthcare services, and have led innovative developments such as the validation of the NMC approved FdSc Nursing Associate (UCAS and apprenticeship programmes) and the level 7 Senior Leader apprenticeship. I am accustomed to working within the fast-moving London health education market, responding to new initiatives, and have a strong track record of writing successful tenders for new business.

My clinical interests are in chronic wound prevention and management and in older person care. My doctorate focused on the predictors of pressure ulceration in elderly orthopaedic in-patients.

I am a member of the School's senior leadership team, the Faculty Healthcare Education and Research Evaluation group and Kingston University's Education Committee.
