Dr Konstantinos Poutos

About

I am the Associate Dean (Faculty Director L&T) of the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and the Environment.

I completed my Dipl.-Ing. Civil Engineering degree with Distinction at the University of Patras in Greece, my MSc and PhD in the area of earthquake resistant structures and sustainable materials.  I completed my Master in Business Administration (MBA) specialising particularly on resource management and optimisation with focus on the higher educational sector and the NSS.

I am a Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy and a Member of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transport.

I have a number of Journal and Conference publications in my area of research, specifically in sustainable building materials and in the dynamic response of earthquake resisting buildings. I am also a reviewer for a number of international scientific journals.

My research interests and expertise lie in the following sectors: Sustainable materials: thermal, volume stability and strength behavior, Use of Finite Element Analysis for the optimisation of mechanical and thermal properties of concrete, Dynamic response of structural systems under seismic forces actions and Use of FEA software for the optimisation of structural systems for better response under seismic actions.
