Help the next generation of students by donating to the Graduating Class Gift fund

Every year, we celebrate the academic achievements of new Kingston University graduates. The Graduating Class Gift is an opportunity for our new alumni to support the students who come after them and ensure that anyone with the talent and drive to succeed at Kingston is able to do so.

Hundreds of graduating students take part every year – and their contributions are matched 100% by previous alumni.

Since launching the Graduating Class Gift, graduates and alumni have raised enough money to support several students in their time of need through the Student Hardship Fund and provided a bursary for students who left care.

How you can help

You will be invited to donate £5 when you register to attend your graduation ceremony. Your Class Gift will be used to support the Student Hardship Fund, helping students who face unexpected financial difficulty.

The graduating students came to my aid

I had fewer than six months left on my PhD into treatments for cervical cancer when, due to circumstances entirely out of my control, I found myself at risk of not being able to finish my research.

As a self-funding international student, I had to pay my own tuition fees and accommodation costs. On top of my full-time research, I was teaching two students on the MSc Cancer Biology course, but I was only legally entitled to work 20 hours a week so money was tight.

Then suddenly, the currency of my home country crashed and although I had paid nearly £40,000 in tuition fees, I was unable to pay my remaining accommodation costs.

Fortunately, the graduating students and alumni came to my aid. I was award the Graduating Class Gift to help with the accommodation costs. This allowed me to stay and finish my research.

I am so grateful to have received the Graduating Class Gift!
