Ms Nicole Nyamwiza

About

I currently hold the post of Senior Lecturer in Criminology. I joined Kingston University in March 2022 from the University of Portsmouth where I held a position of Senior Lecturer in Criminology & Community Justice and course leadership roles.

Prior to that, I was a Probation Officer, and specialised in working with serious group offenders and organised crime. My practitioner background has provided me with an excellent practical understanding and insight into criminal behaviour and all aspects of community and custodial supervision. I have also worked closely with third sector organisations in voluntary capacities.

My research focuses on the relationship between deviance and ‘Blackness' and how this impacts experiences within the Criminal Justice systems. My most recent publications explore the #blacklivesmatter movement, and whether this is implemented in the UK justice system.
