About

I have researched in conjunction with a number of governmental and non-governmental organisations. These have included the Association for Criminal Justice Research and Development with which I have collaborated in the submission of reports to the Irish Joint Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality on the topics of community policing and restorative justice. I have also previously worked with the Northern Ireland Law Commission and managed their research and consultation programmes. Previously I held the position of Lecturer in Law within the Socio and Legal Research Centre at Dublin City University. I have published widely and presented at a number of national and international conferences. I specialise in the area of criminal law, and in particular the paradigm of restorative justice. I have also interests in human rights, contract law, sentencing and law of evidence. I module lead on the Criminal Law and Remedies and Legal Skills in Context modules and collaborate on other modules such as Mediation. I am a member of the Police Encounter Panel which sits at Wimbledon police station and meets every few months to discuss and evaluate police camera footage of arrests. I am currently the Director of the General LLM programme.

Teaching and learning

I am module leader for Criminal Law  and for Remedies and Legal Skills in Context. These are 30-credit modules offered at undergraduate (LLB) level. I collaborate with other modules including Mediation. I was previously the module leader for Contract Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution. 

I am also module leader for Legal Research and Dissertation at postgraduate (LLM) level and am Director the of the General LLM Programme.
